On March 4th, the Special Rapporteur Raquel Rolnik presented to the Human Rights Council, in Geneva, her report on the mission to Rwanda, carried out between July 5-13, 2012. The purpose of the visit was to analyze the implementation of housing rights in the country. She met with government officials, parliamentarians, civil society organizations, researchers and academics, and development partners.
The Rapporteur traveled to the Southern and Eastern provinces to get to know the ongoing housing policies. There, she was able to get in touch with the people who live in imudugudu – housing developed by the Rwanda government at first for survivors of war and genocide and latter extended to the rural population.
