CEDAW: General recommendation No. 30 on women in conflict prevention, conflict and post-conflict situations

The primary aim and purpose of the general recommendation is to provide authoritative guidance to States parties on legislative, policy and other appropriate measures to ensure full compliance with their obligations under the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women to protect, respect and fulfil women’s human rights. It also builds upon principles articulated in previously adopted general recommendations.

Housing density and housing preference in Bangkok’s low-income settlements

This paper investigates whether this high density is observed in practice, and whether it is perpetuated in other forms of low-income housing, both community-developed (in settlements upgraded through participatory processes) and public housing. Reaffirming Justiciability: Judgements on the Human Right to Adequate Housing from the High Court of Delhi

In the year 2010, the High Court of Delhi passed two significant judgements — Sudama Singh and Others vs. Government of Delhi and Anr., and PK Koul vs. Estate Officer and Anr. and Ors. — upholding the human right to adequate housing, and the right to resettlement and rehabilitation. Housing and Land Rights Network (HLRN) considers both these judgements to be very important precedents in Indian case law. They hold great relevance in protecting the human right to adequate housing in India as well as internationally. The judgements, therefore, need to be widely disseminated, read, understood, cited and implemented.
